The Joe Fishstein Collection
of Yiddish Poetry, housed in the Division of Rare Books and Special Collections

works, mostly poetry, and includes many rare volumes, most of which have been
preserved in vintage condition by beautiful hand-made jackets fashioned by Joe
Fishstein, the Bronx garment worker who amassed them.

This website contains the complete contents of the 12-volume Jewish Encyclopedia which was originally published between 1901-1906. The Jewish Encyclopedia recently became part of the public domain, and, while silent on modern history, contains over 15,000 articles and illustrations of immense value. The entire text is searchable and images may be located by searching for text in the captions.

The Jewish Year provides a calender of holidays, both traditional Jewish and Israeli holidays like Yom HaZikaron (Israel's Memorial Day) and Israel Independence Day.
